Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2018-2028, Jeb Dunnuck, Nov 2018

A blend of 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Syrah, and the rest Petit Verdot and Malbec, the 2014 The Big Game is a big, ripe, slightly lifted wine that has impressive notes of crème de cassis, violets, bay leaves, and menthol. Medium to full-bodied and more elegant on the palate than you’d expect from the nose, it has fine tannins, outstanding purity of fruit, and a great finish. It should drink well for 8-10 years.

Dark purple. Smoke-accented black and blue fruit, floral pastille, vanilla and cola aromas are brightened by a peppery note that emerges with air. Offers palate-staining bitter cherry, blackcurrant, mocha and spicecake flavors that are firmed by a spine of juicy acidity. Gains weight with air and finishes gently sweet and long, displaying persistent cherry and succulent herb notes and gently chewy tannins.

Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2018-2019, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, May 2018

A blend of 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Syrah, 15% Petit Verdot and 9% Malbec, the 2014 The Big Game reveals aromas of cherry preserve, green herbs and beef blood. On the palate, it's full-bodied, layered and a little vegetal, with a velvety attack that gives way to a hollow mid-palate and a dilute finish. It's the best of these offerings from The Farm Winery, but it's hardly a barnstorming success.
