2013 Efeste Syrah Jolie Bouche

(30% of the stems were added back; aged in French oak puncheons, 20% new, and bottled off the lees after 14 months): Deep ruby-red. Ripe scents of blackberry, smoked meat, licorice and violet reminded me of a Crozes-Hermitage. Juicy, spicy, brisk black fruit flavors are accented by licorice and a minty nuance. A very firm, juicy, cooler-site Syrah with lovely density, fruit and persistence.
