Full bottle 1,740 g – too heavy. Vineyard planted in 1989. Aged for 22 months in 80% new French oak. Bottled unfined and unfiltered.Inky garnet. Aromas of cherry, violets and tobacco. Intensely juicy flavours of cherry, black cherry, black plum and chopped herbs are surrounded by a haze of powdery tannins that coat the mouth and slowly stiffen as the wine moves across the palate. Hints of mocha and dried herbs linger in the finish. Fantastic acidity, incredible balance in the midst of power, depth and complexity. A tour de force. 19/20 points (AY)

Made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oliver Ranch saw 22 months in 80% new French oak. On opening, it displays an opaque red color and boasts deep aromas of black and blue fruit, with notes of forest floor, gravel, black plum, and tobacco leaf. Full-bodied, it takes on an expansive feel through the palate, with supple ripe tannins, a fleshy mid-palate, and a long finish. Decadent and rich, it’s going to command time in cellar to shed its baby fat. Drink 2027-2050. Jesse Katz and winemaker Hillary Sjolund are producing some of Sonoma's best examples of Bordeaux-inspired blends today. The wines offer hedonistic pleasure across the range, offering high-octane power balanced with superb elegance, and their top reds have significant aging potential. They are continuing to offer blockbuster wines, especially their 2021 releases.

The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oliver Ranch was matured for 22 months in 80% new French oak. It takes some patience on the nose as it unfurls its aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry, cast iron, lilac, fennel and gingerbread spices. Its classy oak tones are nestled into a concentrated core of detailed fruit on the palate, and it has a weightless frame of velvety tannins. It's noticeably energetic with bright acidity and has a very long, latent finish. In place of its typical density, this 2021 vintage of Oliver Ranch offers tremendous purity and elegance. 440 cases were made, and it will be long lived in the cellar.

A pure cabernet sauvignon with currant, gravel, cedar and hints of coffee bean. Full body, chunky yet there’s tension and framing. Flavorful finish. Needs two or three years to come together but already impressive. Drink or hold.
