The 1989 Richebourg Grand Cru put on a very good performance, delivering an attractive bouquet of dark chocolate, plummy fruit, figs and rich spices that reflects the warmth of the year, followed by a full-bodied, ample and layered palate that's rich and fleshy, with ripe tannins and tangy—presumably adjusted—underlying acids, concluding with quite a long finish. This is a muscular, ripe Richebourg that's more about power than finesse, but it's drinking well.
