Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2010, Jeb Dunnuck, Feb 2010
A perennial overachiever, the 2007 Bodegas Juan Gil Monastrell Jumilla (Silver Label) consists of 100% Monastrell that see 12 months in French oak. It displays aromatics well beyond its price point with cassis, blackberry, smoke, minerals and classy oak just jumping from the glass. The palate is medium to full bodied with solid density and good structure, a rich, ripe texture and enough acidity to keep it fresh. The finish is moderately tannic. This will most likely evolve for a year or two and then drink well over the following 3 to 5 years, if not longer. At the under 20 dollar price point, this is hard to beat.
