A big step up over the Classico, the 2014 Pinot Noir Reserve comes from the Abetina, Aurora, Madrona and Linda Vista vineyards in the Willamette Valley. Aged 20 months in 30% new French oak, this medium-bodied, concentrated beauty boasts a deep ruby color as well as lovely black cherry and framboise like fruits intermixed with background scorched earth, spice, and smoke. Drink it anytime over the coming decade. It’s classy stuff.

(30% new French oak) Deep vivid red. Heady, mineral-accented aromas of ripe red and dark berries, five-spice powder and candied rose. Sweet, impressively concentrated blackberry, cherry cola and spicecake flavors show impressive vivacity and focus, and a smoky nuance emerges slowly. The floral note repeats strongly on an impressively long, juicy finish shaped by gentle, harmonious tannins.
Pale to medium ruby-purple, the 2014 Pinot Noir Reserve presents complex black fruit and earth notes of black raspberries, plums, charcoal, dusty earth and moss-covered logs with hints of chocolate box, meat and Marmite toast. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers a wonderful concentration of gregarious red and black fruits with loads of earthy layers and a velvety texture, finishing long and harmonious.
