The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Meyer Vineyard offers classic Cabernet notes of darker currants, leather, dried flowers, and tobacco, with cedary nuances. Aged 21 months in 75% new French oak, it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a layered, elegant mouthfeel, ripe, polished, firmer tannins, terrific balance, and outstanding length. This complex, satisfying effort will keep for 10-12 years or more. Drink 2025-2037.

From a specific portion of Hestan's estate vineyard in eastern Napa, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Meyer Vineyard is more similar than dissimilar to the pricier bottling. Cedar and some darker wood overtones accent black cherries, joined by hints of vanilla and mocha on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is concentrated and richly tannic but fully ripe. The long, softly dusty finish brings some redder cherry notes into play. You can do a lot worse in Napa while spending quite a bit more, making this Thomas Rivers Brown-made wine a solid value.
