Note di degustazione
The beautiful old-vine 2001 Barbaresco Vecchie Vigne displays an elegant nose of spices and toasted oak along with plenty of ripe red fruit followed by notes of tar and licorice that develop in the glass. It is a richly endowed, structured wine with excellent length that will require a few years in the bottle before offering its best drinking. Aged in a combination of medium-size casks and barrriques.

(a selection from old vines, aged entirely in barriques, 50% new) Bright, deep red. Sexy aromas of plum, game and smoky oak. A bit sweeter and more concentrated than the normale but more backward, with notes of tar and mint. The normale shows more juicy berry flavor today, while this is more dominated by its structure and finishes with substantial oak tannins. It's hard to believe this won't be better in the long run.
