Based on 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon that will see 20 months in new barrels, the 2024 Clos Romanile reveals blackberries, blueberries, graphite, scorched earth, and leafy herbs. Medium-bodied and nicely concentrated on the palate, it shows enjoyable depth, ripe tannins, solid balance, and good length. It's a charmer.

Lovely deep ruby colour, and sweet gentle oak, plenty of big fruits, tannins a little overly evident when set against the acidity of the vintage but this feels uncompromising, delivering a wine that will be recognisable to Thunevin clients. Set across two plots, 1.1ha in size, organic certified, clay and sand soils in cool sectors.
The 2024 Clos Romanile matured entirely in new oak that obscures its fruit and terroir. The palate is more balanced with sour cherry and orange rind on the entry, but again, this feels rather hard and lacks some complexity on the finish.
Medium-bodied, bright, crisp, fresh, strawberry and raspberry-filled wine with a vibrant character and a refreshing touch of sea salt that adds complexity and lift in the finish. This will be easy to enjoy on release.
