Rich in the context of the vintage. Soft and succulent too. Crushed berry fruits – red and darker – and a veritable bunch of freshly picked wild herbs. Raspberry, mulberry and loganberry. With aeration, more dark cherry notes – but all very fresh. A touch of cassis too. Quite traditional but with very gracious tannins. A little white almond. Creamy on the attack. Cool at the core and nicely structured – more and more sapid with a pleasing sense of grip from the fine grained but granular tannins. Long and tapered. A success.

Always solid, the 2024 Château La Louvière delivers red and black currants, scorched earth, graphite, and floral notes. Medium-bodied and fresh on the palate, it has solid density, focused depth, ripe tannins, and integrated acidity.
Soft to medium intensity plum colour, smoked earth, a touch of rusticity to the tannins but there is impressively balanced red and black fruits alongside, raspberry leaf and cloves. Austere on the finish. Harvest 17 September to 3 October. 40 hl/ha. 40% new oak, 15% in amphora for ageing.
The 2024 La Louviere is a bit slender, but it offers lovely aromatic presence and fine balance. Dried herbs, tobacco, spice, licorice and mocha all grace the 2024, a subtle, understated wine that may very well have more to say in the future. Tasted two times.

Wine has been made at this estate since the 1300s, but its modern history begins when the Lurton family purchased it in 1965. The property was in disrepair, but the Lurtons have restored the château, winery and vineyards.
