FINE+RARE, Apr 2025

Heady with sweet spice and black pepper, this wine has a deep and heady nose – with florals on top of a bed of dark cherry fruit. The palate is a little austere at this stage, needing time for the oak to integrate and tannins to meld, but there’s plenty of stuffing and nice acidity to balance it all out. Aged 16-18 months in 50% new oak. Blend: 99.5% Merlot, 0.5% Petit Verdot

One of the deeper-hued wines from the Moueix team, the 2024 Château La Fleur-Pétrus is 99.5% Merlot and 0.5% Petit Verdot, harvested entirely in September and now resting in 50% new oak. It shows beautiful notes of black raspberries, cassis, graphite, savory flowers, and lead pencil. Medium-bodied, it has a layered, balanced mouthfeel, ripe, building tannins, and a great finish. This is a beautiful, elegant, and incredibly complete Pomerol that offers plenty to love. I wouldn't be surprised to see it play with the top wines of the vintage.

Gently toasted cedar and sandalwood, violet, lilac, powdery rose, plush fruits, savoury in the spirit of the vintage but with texture and even generosity, and velvety tannins. A great job from La Fleur-Petrus, seriously impressive and one to look out for - my wine of the Moueix stable in 2024. 50% new oak. Harvest 17 to 28 September, no chaptilisation, around 20% down on yield from a usual year.

Aromas of creamy dark berries, fruitcake and chocolate introduce the 2024 La Fleur-Pétrus, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and supple wine that's rich and creamy, with good depth at the core and soft structuring tannins.
