Red and black fruits, graphite, leafy tobacco, and violet notes all emerge from the 2024 Château Fontenil, a medium-bodied Fronsac that has a pure, layered, elegant mouthfeel, silky tannins, and an undeniable sense of minerality on the finish. It's another beautifully made, seamless wine from this estate.

Inky colour with a softly spoken oak wash on the aromatics, blueberry and raspberry fruit, measured oak, good quality, austere on the finish but with juice. Harvest 7 to 10 October. 19hl/ha. 30% new oak. Dany and Michel Rolland home estate
The 2024 Fontenil has a fresh bouquet with red cherry, crushed strawberry scents and just a faint marine note emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied and well balanced with succulent tannins and a little candied orange peel in the mix toward the pretty finish. This is not a complex Fontenil but it is quite delicious.
Chocolate, licorice, and black cherries with hints of flowers are found in the nose. The palate is vibrant, fresh, and fruity, with loads of salt-edged black cherries, black raspberries, and soft, supple textures. This is quite a success for the vintage. The wine is produced from 100% Merlot.
