Slate, cumin and sweet cedar oak notes, even the lightest touch of tar, this has been carefully constructed, and delivers sweet cherry and raspberry fruits. Unfussy, skilfully made, lacks a little appellation typicity compared to the 1st wine.

The 2024 Les Fiefs de Lagrange comprises a slightly different blend this year, with more Merlot and Petit Verdot. It has a light, violet-scented bouquet with just a touch of Indian ink. The palate is medium-bodied and quite fleshy in the mouth with pliant tannins. The Petit Verdot is neatly assimilated on the lightly spiced finish. This will need 12 to 18 months in bottle and drink well for the next decade.
A crunchy, well-balanced St. Julien that highlights the fruit, showing peppery spices, berries and olives with herbs on the medium-bodied palate. Tannins are firm and adequate. An expressive finish of good length.

Now with 118 hectares under vine, Ch. Lagrange is a Third Growth, owned by the Suntory group since 1983. Their investment in the property has paid off, today producing benchmark Saint-Julien.
