Punteggio 89-91/100 · Jeb Dunnuck, May 2025

Always a solid Saint-Émilion, the 2024 Château De Pressac is based on 62% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, and the balance Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, and Carmenère. Juicy cherries, mulberries, smoked earth, and graphite define the nose, and it's medium-bodied, with a focused, elegant mouthfeel and firm yet still ripe, integrated tannins. It's impeccably made and a good example of the vintage.

Ruby red, medium intensity, grilled sandalwood and red liquorice, pocket of air running under these slim red fruits, limestone signature, with a lovely salty twist on the finish, and this is enjoyable, if a lighter styled Pressac. 40ha, Jean-François Quenin owner. First year of massal selection for Cabernet Franc, 8% amphora ageing, and 20% whole bunch fermentation on Merlot and Franc, 38hl/h yield (but with 25% going into a 3rd wine, so overall a very tight selection).

The 2024 de Pressac is a classy, elegant wine. The combination of the vintage and the change of style here towards gentler winemaking resulted in a silky, mid-weight Saint-Émilion that has a lot to offer. Clean mineral notes frame a finely delineated core of bright red-toned fruit, blood orange, chalk and mint. Here, too, the 20% stems are not especially evident. My impression is that Pressac will have quite a bit to say in the future. This is a fine showing. Tasted two times.

The 2024 Château de Pressac has a light nose with blackberry, briar and a touch of loam. The palate is medium-bodied, fleshy and expressive, with a ripe entry and a sorbet-tinged finish. Yet it feels balanced and I can imagine enjoying this in its flush of youth.
