Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2030-2042, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Apr 2025

Fragrant, floral, white flowers, just super sappy and enjoyable, well balanced and carefully constructed, a little dilute through the mid palate but the focus is on the fruit. Sichel family owners, headed up by Benjamin Sichel. 60% barrels and 40% amphoras. 29 hl/ha yield. Biodynamic certified.

Light/medium-bodied, fresh, crisp, red cherry, and currant-filled wine in a soft, forward style for early drinking pleasure. This will offer pleasure on release, and for at least a decade after that.

59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot. Cask sample. Open and expressive. Brambly fruit to the fore. Palate supple and fresh, the tannins finely honed. Lighter weight but an attractive wine for earlier drinking. (JL)

The 2024 Château d'Angludet aged 40% in amphorae—which Daisy Sichel told me was very beneficial in this vintage—and 60% in barrels, of which 30% are new. The first thing I noticed is the aromatic purity. It's much better and more expressive than anticipated, with hints of pressed violet infusing the mainly black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and classic in style, with slightly powdery tannins, black olive and iodine in the background and a cohesive finish. There is so much drinkability in this Angludet, which is a success in the context of the vintage.
