A very bright, juicy expression from this vintage, showing good purity of blue fruit and cherries. Bright acidity with fine, chalky tannins and a pretty long finish. Very succulent, and there is lovely vibration and energy. 93% merlot and 7% cabernet franc.

The 2024 Château Alcée comes from four separate parcels and is 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc, aging in a mix of barrels and foudre. (This is the first year where they've used foudre.) Ripe red fruits, chalky minerality, rose petals, and floral notes all emerge from the glass, and it's medium-bodied, with a pure, elegant, juicy mouthfeel and ripe yet present tannins. This charming, balanced 2024 will shine right out of the gate.
Notes of violet, cassis and mulberries introduce the 2024 Alcée, a moderately weighted, lively and juicy wine framed by firm tannins, concluding with a long, gently bitter finish. This is a blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Franc.
Plum and damson fruits on the nose, high acidity, a little more pronounced than in sibling estates Puygueraud and La Prade, this has a touch of lime zest and lemongrass alongside the berry fruits - a reflection of more clay in the soils - but still a juicy signoff. Harvest 3 to 8 October. 30% new oak. Cabernet Franc from massale selection from St Emilion. This was in organic conversion, but they have stopped for the 2024 vintage.
