Deep and full of dark, almost currant-like, fruit, the nose of the 2024 Ch. Bourgneuf currently shows the sweetness of its barrels (35% new here), but this will integrate with time. The palate is smooth and plush, on the more fuller-bodied style for the year, yet with a line of mouth-watering acidity, layers of bright raspberry fruit and a savoury edge to the finish. Blend: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc

Vinified all in concrete tanks and aging in 35% new oak (with the balance in one- to two-year-old oak), it's going to benefit from a year or two of bottle age to gain some elegance. Tasted twice.
