The 2015 Throwback, Canard's Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend, comes across as overripe and alcoholic, with hard, unyielding tannins that attenuate the fruit. Sadly, the wine's balance is lacking.

Composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon with 6% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2015 Proprietary Red Throwback shows vague baked plums, earth and spice box notions with a hint of dried herbs. The full-bodied palate shows dried berries notes with chewy tannins, finishing a little hard.
