Melon, oatmeal, lemon pith, a touch of orange – so alluring on the nose. With air, there is oak spice and light dairy character too. The body stays underweight compared with old-fashioned Californian Chardonnay, but with no compromise on flavour intensity or persistence. Such a great example of thoughtful and expressive Chardonnay. Finishes with slaty minerality. (RH)

The 2019 Chardonnay Estate SeaBed is laced with the essence of crushed rocks, graphite, dried herbs, chamomile and chalk. The SeaBed is always the most mineral and phenolic of the Radio-Coteau Chardonnays. It is all that in 2019, but with the volume turned up. Even with its large-scaled intensity and explosiveness, the 2019 retains striking transparency. It's one of the most memorable wines I have ever tasted from Radio-Coteau.
