Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2023-2033, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Dec 2022

The 2019 Syrah Great Places Rueben Solorzano comes from the oldest own-rooted vineyard at Stolpman planted at a dense 6,000 vines per acre. Medium ruby, it takes plenty of time in the glass to reveal blackcurrants, red cherries, tar, violet and charcuterie. The palate is full-bodied with rounded tannins and surprisingly energetic acidity. It has a long, floral finish but feels a touch youthfully coiled—give it another 2-3 years in bottle to unwind. 220 cases were made.

The 2019 Great Places Ruben Solorzano (100% Syrah) is another riper, rounded, expansive beauty that has ample red plum and blackberry-like fruits as well as herbes de Provence and peppery, subtle meaty nuances. Medium to full-bodied and expansive on the palate, with ripe tannins, it's ideal for drinking over the coming 10-12 years.

The 2019 Syrah Great Places Ruben Solorzano is an intense, wild wine from own-rooted, head-trained, high density vines, from one of the top estates in the Northern Rhône. Today, the elements are a bit all over the place, with the aromatics, fruit and structure each in their own realm. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
