The 2018 Pinot Noir Maritime is a brand-new wine in the Hirsch portfolio, and Jasmine Hirsch plans to grow this cuvée a bit from its inaugural release of 100 cases. It comes from a bowl-shaped depression in the property facing the Pacific Ocean where it is cold, windy and foggy. This section is usually picked last, and the wine is made from the four best barrels. Medium ruby, it opens perfumed with lilac, potpourri, forest floor, crushed red and black cherries and amaro. The palate is light to medium-bodied with super fresh, crunchy, concentrated and spicy fruits, with a grainy frame and long, layered finish.

The 2018 Pinot Noir Maritime is a new wine made from the most coastal blocks on the property. Gracious, perfumed and light on its feet, the 2018 is absolutely gorgeous. Sweet, floral-infused aromatics and bright red/purplish berry fruit open up with a bit of time in the glass, but it is the wine's sensuality and allure that carry the day. Sadly, only 98 cases were bottled.
