Note di degustazione
(blended with 12% merlot, 8% cabernet sauvignon and 1% petit verdot): Bright dark red. Perfumed aromas of blackberry, licorice, violet, rose petal and dusty herbs. Very dry but nicely ripe in the mouth, with excellent energy and definition to the flavors of blueberry, currant, brown spices and flowers. The lively finish features excellent length and dusty, slightly chalky tannins. Very sophisticated cabernet franc, from grapes harvest during the first half of November.

A resonant wine loaded with personality, the 2010 Cabernet Franc shows gorgeous mid-palate density and richness. Tobacco, espresso, mocha and sweet herbs add complexity in this juicy, expressive Cabernet Franc. At the same time, there is plenty of grip and energy on the finish to support years of cellaring. This is another deep, resonant wine loaded with personality. Sweet red berries, flowers and tobacco are layered into the finish. The 2010 is 79% Cabernet Franc, 12% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Petit Verdot.

These current releases from Pride are impressive for their consistency across the board. Pride does so many things well these days. Most of the reds I tasted were 2009s, a vintage Steve Pride and winemaker Sally Johnson describe as cooler than average, but warmer than either 2010 or 2011. Most of the fruit was brought in between the end of October and early November, quite late for the year, but a great example of how fruit matures on this property, which straddles Napa and Sonoma in the heart of Spring Mountain.
