The 2020 Mejean is bursting at the seams with blackberry jam, super-ripe dark cherry, spice, chocolate, new leather and cloves. This inky, bold Graves packs a serious punch. Lets see if élevage softens some of the more angular contours.
The 2020 Méjean has a light, quite lactic nose that is missing the personality of its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with dry tannins, a little green around the edges and missing real depth and charm on the finish.
A blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2020 Mejean has a medium to deep garnet-purple color and is scented of stewed raspberries, blackberry pie and kirsch, plus hints of sautéed herbs and damp soil with a waft of tobacco leaf. The medium-bodied palate is juicy and refreshing with a slight chewiness to the texture and a lifted finish.
