The 2012 Lamothe Guignard has a perfumed, quite floral bouquet with lemon thyme, caramelised pear and honey scents. The aromas here remind me of Calvados. The palate is viscous on the entry, fine acidity, simple with a rather one-dimensional finish. So-so. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting.

Tasted blind. Deep orange-gold. Floral notes. Then very sweet and round. Tastes as though it’s potent! Lots to enjoy here! Still a little chewy on the end. (JR)
Tasted blind at the annual Southwold tasting. The 2012 Château Lamothe-Guignard has a slightly nutty, almost Aszu-like bouquet that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is rounded on the entry, viscous in texture, but it clearly lacks complexity and it feels disjointed on the truncated finish. The estate has made better wines in recent years.
Tasted blind. Deep gold. Very big and low acid with lots of weight. A bit of barley sugar. Not very refined but with lots of impact. (JR)
