Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2023-2033, Neal Martin, Dec 2023

The 2019 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru has a strident nose replete with grilled walnuts and a touch of smoke, well-defined with nicely integrated oak and a light cereal-like tincture in the background. It lacks a bit of grace and nuance. Some heat becomes apparent. The palate is well balanced with a honeyed entry, touches of marmalade and orange rind, sour lemon and a dab of ginger. Powerful and unashamedly alcoholic in style, maybe it's missing some tension toward the finish. I do appreciate the fact that it is almost surfeit with flavor. But will it have longevity? Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Another high point of the range is the 2019 Meursault Blagny 1er Cru, a medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated wine evocative of pear, crisp stone fruit, bread dough and dried white flowers. Layered and seamless, it's an elegant, nicely balanced bottling that concludes with a bright, saline finish.

Punteggio 90-92/100 · Da bere 2024-2035, Neal Martin, Dec 2020

The 2019 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru comes from a single block of a half-hectare parcel of vines planted in the 1950s and young vines planted in 2009. It has a pleasant bouquet with apple blossom and honeysuckle aromas emerging from the glass. I would like to see more terroir expression here. The palate is nicely balanced, the spicy entry (lemongrass and ginger) leading to a weighty, concentrated, powerful finish that lacquers the mouth. Give this three or four years once in bottle. [Tasted twice, once at the Domaine and then in the UK.]
