2016 Cantina Roccafiore Sagrantino di Montefalco

The 2016 Montefalco Sagrantino opens slowly to reveal crushed violets, lavender, black licorice and hints of cedar spice box. This is silky and pliant in feel, with dark red fruits and minerals giving way to sweet tannins toward the close. It tapers off only lightly structured yet long, with a staining of tart cherry that lingers on. The 2016 is an understated expression of Roccafiore’s Montefalco Sagrantino.
