2001 Ravenswood Pickberry Vineyard

(58% merlot, 37% cabernet sauvignon and 5% cabernet franc) Shy yet aromatically precise aromas of blackberry, pepper, mint and currant leaf; perfumed and subtle. Then surprisingly silky and suave in the middle palate, with perfectly integrated acidity. A compelling combination of refined texture and firm structure. Finishes with very fine tannins and excellent length. Clearly the densest vintage for this bottling since 1997.
