Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2019-2026, Josh Raynolds, Apr 2016

Brilliant red. A high-pitched, mineral-accented bouquet evokes fresh red berries, peppery spices and smoky minerals, along with a hint of candied flowers. Silky, sweet and expansive, offering vibrant raspberry and cherry flavors that put on weight and expand with air. In a suave, seamless style, displaying strong finishing cut, sneaky tannins and excellent persistence.

The 2013 Châteauneuf du Pape offers sexy and forward notes of strawberries, framboise, dried garrigue and leather. This wine is made from 85% Grenache, 5% Syrah, 5% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault that had one third of the blend aged in barrel. Drink this medium-bodied, perfumed and Provençal effort through 2023.

Vivid red. Explosively perfumed red berry and floral scents are complicated by Asian spices and smoky minerals. Juicy and sharply focused on the palate, with sappy raspberry and bitter cherry flavors given spine and lift by tangy acidity. This pure, nicely balanced wine finishes with excellent clarity and suave, 3ven tannins. There's more than a passing resemblance to Burgundy here, and really good Burgundy at that.
