Saturated bright ruby. Blackberry, cherry cola and a rooty nuance on the nose.Superripe, sweet and high-toned; large-scaled and pliant but just this side of heavy. Finishes with huge, dusty tannins and a tarry sweetness.This is 16+% alcohol, and it shows it.

Cohn consistently does a great job with Petite Syrah (note this winery spells it Syrah, not Sirah) and his 2004 Frediani Vineyard cuvee (100% Petite Sirah) exhibits an opaque blue/purple color in addition to sweet aromas of blueberries, crushed rocks, and white flowers. Powerful, concentrated, and amazingly intense as well as rich, it should easily evolve for two decades or more. This grape remains the most underrated high quality varietal in California, especially for longevity. Kudos to Jeff Cohn for another brilliant line-up.
