The 2009 JG's Joie Du Vin is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a single parcel in Stags Leap. It is a huge, opaque wine that stands apart from the rest of what I tasted from Clos du Val. Blackberry jam, cassis grilled herbs and licorice are some of the notes that emerge from this racy, opulent red. It shows plenty of richness and concentration, if not quite the personality and complexity I expect at this price point. Still, it is a well-made wine. Clean, mineral notes frame the huge finish.
