The 2014 Red Blend Elevage checks in as a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29%Merlot, 12%Petit Verdot, and the rest Cabernet Franc, all from the Stags Leap region of the valley, that spent 18 months all in new French oak. As with all these cuvees, it's beautifully balanced and impeccably made. Cassis, spice-box, crushed rocks and hints of graphite all emerge from this silky, medium to full-bodied red that has the depth and structure to warrant another 2-4 years of bottle age. It's beautifully done, and the purity of fruit is exceptional.

The biggest production cuvée, I think, is their 2014 Proprietary Red Elevage, a blend of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 29% Merlot, 12% Petit Verdot and the rest Cabernet Franc. Supple, fleshy and seductive, this wine has a dense ruby/purple color, loads of blue and red fruits, spice, but an overwhelming sense of elegance and finesse. However, the wine is by no means wimpy or undernourished. It has the stuffing and richness , but also a soft, suppleness that gives it immediate appeal. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.
The 2014 Red Blend Elevage, Chimney Rock's Merlot-based blend, is ripe, juicy and expressive. Red cherry jam, chocolate, pomegranate, rose petal and menthol are all pushed forward. The 2014 offers plenty of richness and sweetness, with good aromatic lift and density. Drink this succulent, inviting red over the next few years.
