The 2017 Pinot Noir Hill Justice Vineyard is one of the most complete wines I have tasted from Tony and Christine Lombardi. Time in the glass brings out a captivating range of bright red berry fruit, blood orange and a whole range of floral and savory layers of nuance. Deep and resonant on the palate yet also light on its feet, the 2017 is a stunningly beautiful, classy, refined Pinot that hits all the right notes. In a word: impressive.

The 2017 Pinot Noir Hill Justice Vineyard, aged 15 months in 67% new French oak, has a pale to medium ruby color with pretty scents of cranberry jelly, dried rose petals, pipe tobacco, citrus peel and black tea leaves with gobs of spices in the undercurrent plus notes of blackberries and raspberries. Medium-bodied and silky, the palate offers great intensity and layering of ripe fruits, spices and earth notions. It has a grainy frame and seamless freshness, finishing long and nuanced. 75 cases were made.
The smaller production release, the 2017 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast Hill Justice Vineyard is slightly deeper colored and offers complex notes of black raspberries, spring flowers, sassafras, and Asian spices. With a beautifully balanced, medium-bodied style on the palate, it's a step up over the appellation release and ideal for drinking over the coming 6-8 years or so.
Bold, rich aromas of ripe dark fruit, as well as earthy and foresty notes. This delivers a rich, ripe and flavor-soaked style with red plums and dark berries, carried on fine, ripe and juicy tannins. Drink now.
