The 2017 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru is clean and crisp, almost clinical, on the intense nose, but I feel it’s beginning to close down for a phase. The palate is very well balanced and full of tension, but strict and linear, with a saline finish and not much else... for now. Cellar this for several years and you will have a serious Les Perrières on your hands. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

(the Château de Meursault is the second-largest owner of Meursault Perrières after Domaine Albert Grivault; their 50- and 40-year-old vines are in the middle of the top portion of Perrières): Good stony lift to the aromas of nectarine, pineapple and spicy oak (35% new, the same percentage used for the Bourgogne Terroir d'Exception). Creamier than the Terroir d'Exception but with terrific stony acidity energizing the orange oil and salty mineral flavors. A more chewy, tactile wine with excellent depth and finishing grip.
