A blend of 95% Syrah and 5% Viognier, the 2007 Syrah Bien Nacido is firm, oaky and a rustic, with tons of black fruits, smoked earth and mineral aromas and flavors. It's still harsh and angular, and I suspect that won't change.

A touch more peppery and lighter in color than the ’06, the 2007 Bonaccorsi Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard, a blend of 96% Syrah that’s co-fermented with 4% Viognier, has top notch aromatics, showing loads of classy black fruits, peppered steak, underbrush, and serious gravel and wet stone that really comes though on the finish. Medium to full bodied with an age-worthy, structured, and elegant feel, with good length and serious, yet fine grained, tannin, this beautifully balanced red should drink well for a decade or longer.
Inky ruby. Initially reduced; aeration brings up deep cassis and cherry-cola aromas and flavors, along with notes of sassafras and licorice. A dense, chewy wine that unfolds slowly and shows some coarse tannins right now. There's good depth here but it's a tough read.
The superstar among these Syrahs from Bonaccorsi is not that surprising, given the vineyard source. The 2007 Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard exhibits notes of graphite, tapenade, black currants, chocolate, and blackberry. Full-bodied, rich, with super expressive chocolate and cassis flavors in the mouth, this is a full, opulent, approachable Syrah that can be drunk now or cellared for up to a decade. Tel.
