The 2017 Pinot Noir Rapley Trail Vineyard James Thomas’s Block has a pale to medium ruby color and very vibrant scents of smoked cranberries, Bing cherries, black cherries, dried citrus peel, dried herbs and a pretty top note of lilac perfume. The palate is medium-bodied and intense with great layering of red and black fruits, earth, spices and bitters. It has a frame of firm, very finely grained tannins and addicting freshness, finishing very long and layered. This is lovely!

The 2017 Pinot Noir Rapley Trail James Thomas's Block is bright and floral, with good up-front appeal. Like pretty much all of the 2017s here, the James Thomas's Block is missing its customary depth and complexity. I would prefer to drink it on the earlier side, while the sweet red berry fruit remains vibrant.
