2016 Ashes & Diamonds Cabernet Sauvignon Rancho Pequeno

The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Rancho Pequeño Vineyard No. 2 is a meaningful step up from the 2015, but it is also quite modest in depth and intensity. Silky tannins lend finesse to the dark cherry, mocha, spice and new leather flavors. Ultimately, the 2016 may turn out to be a more complete wine than the 2015. Even if it does, my sense is that this site is better suited to a richer style of Cabernet.
