Vivid red. Sexy, expansive aromas of candied red berries, incense and Asian spices, with a bright mineral element and a hint of candied rose. Juicy and precise, with very good depth and cut to its sweet black raspberry, blood orange and rose pastille flavors. Supple tannins come on late and add shape to plush, spice-accented red and dark berry notes on the finish. This suave pinot is built to age but drinks very nicely now, with a little air.
The 2011 Pinot Noir Moon Select is another super-elegant, finessed wine. Here the fruit takes in slightly blue/purplish tonalities. Sweet floral and spice notes develop over time, but the Moon Select is mostly a wine of texture and structure. The flavors are bright, focused and beautifully articulated from the very first taste. This is a terrific showing from Flowers.
