The 1996 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate reveals richness, layers of concentration, and a compelling texture. Its dense ruby/purple color is accompanied by scents of jammy cassis, earth, plums, and prunes. The new oak is well integrated. This rich, full-bodied, textured, thick, and juicy offering is one of the finest efforts I have tasted from Gallo. It can be drunk now or cellared for 12-15+ years. Although medium to full-bodied and accessible, this 1996 reveals firm tannin in the finish.
