The 2018 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard Cuvée Susan emerges from one of the older blocks of Wente Chardonnay on the estate. Citrus peel, white flowers, almonds and crushed rocks give the 2018 a good deal of energy. The balance of vibrancy and texture is compelling. This is an especially bright expression of Wente clone Chardonnay.

Made from TOR's five best barrels from Hyde Vineyard and aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, the 2018 Chardonnay Reserve Cuvee Susan drifts effortlessly out of the glass with compelling scents of fresh lemons, grapefruit, yuzu and orange blossoms with suggestions of honeycomb, marzipan and lime leaves. The medium-bodied palate is an exercise in elegance, featuring delicate citrus and savory layers with seamless freshness and a satiny texture, finishing long and fragrant. 50 cases were made.
Not yet bottled, the 2018 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard Cuvée Susan has a ripe, lush bouquet of pineapple, peach, honeysuckle, and toasted spices that just jumps from the glass. This carries to a rich, textured, beautifully layered Chardonnay that has good acidity, no hard edges, and a great finish. It’s another impressive Chardonnay from this team.
