Offering a little Beaujolais carbonic character in its wild strawberry, blueberry, underbrush, and incredibly floral aromas and flavors, the 2016 Zinfandel Limerick Lane Vineyard is awesome on the palate. Medium bodied, silky, and seamless, with pure, pure tannin, a silky texture, and a great finish, I expect this will benefit from a year or three in bottle and keep for a decade. Winemakers Mike Officer and Jay Maddox have hit pay dirt with these latest 2016s and across the board, they’re the finest set of releases I’ve tasted from this estate. While Mike’s wines are always deeply colored and powerful, the more elegant, balanced style of the 2016 vintage is front and center and these 2016s just glide over the palate, with perfectly integrated fruit, tannin, and acidity. In addition, most are approachable today given their purity of fruit, yet they’re going to evolve beautifully on their balance. Hats off to the team here and readers should not miss these wines!

Ninety-nine percent Zinfandel with 1% mixed black varieties from vines planted in 1910, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Zinfandel Limerick Lane Vineyard gives up pronounced chocolate box, baked black cherries and dried mulberries notes with touches of prunes, dusty soil, dried roses, baking spices and raspberry jam plus a waft of kirsch. Full, rich and opulent in the mouth, it has stunning harmony and so many layers, framed by grainy tannins and finishing with a lingering refreshing lift. 113 cases were made.
The 2016 Zinfandel Limerick Lane is dense and powerful in the glass, yet still retains tons of freshness and all the salinity that is so typical of this site. Dark fruit, bright acids and insistent tannins give the wine its unique personality. A host of floral and savory notes appear later, adding further shades of nuance. The 2016 is powerful & as wines from this site are & but also impeccable in its balance.
