From a vineyard resurrected by the Bilbro family that has done such a marvelous job at Marietta Cellars, the 2012 Zinfandel Limerick Lane Vineyard is composed of 98% Zinfandel and 2% mixed blacks (in this case, Trousseau, Petite Sirah and Peloursin). Only 123 cases were produced, and the wine tips the scales at a lofty 15.2% natural alcohol. It offers up copious notes of sweet black fruits, charcuterie / smoked meats, baking spices and roasted herbs. Lovely, pure, full-bodied and complex, as well as strikingly fresh and elegant, this big, vibrant, exuberant Zinfandel should drink well for 8-10 years.

Opaque purple. Intense, spice-accented dark berry and floral pastille aromas show excellent clarity and a building smoky nuance. Round and fleshy on the palate, offering sweet blueberry and cherry compote flavors and a hint of lavender pastille. Dusty tannins firm the penetrating finish, which clings with serious tenacity and echoing spiciness. There are 2% mixed blacks included in this wine, which is carrying 15.2% alcohol.
The 2012 Zinfandel Limerick Lane Vineyard, from a resurrected site in the Russian River, is bright, focused and beautifully balanced. Rose petals, pomegranate, spices and licorice jump from the glass. The 2012 is all about balance and sensuality. This is one of the more feminine wines in the Carlisle range. The blend is 98% Zinfandel and 2% mixed blacks.
