The bit of label with the alcohol on has been torn off but the Dugat-Py wines are generally quite powerful and backward. Unfined and unfiltered. Dark garnet and sturdy with some tannin still in evidence. Lots of pure, almost raw fruit. But this wine suggests one should wait awhile before opening any of Dugat-Py's 2005s. (JR)

This is made up of parcels from Fonteny, Corbeaux and Perrières. Extremely opulent, rich and heady. Intensely ripe with a certain gaminess. This is for the long term though it has more sprightliness and race than the Coeur du Roy. Quite a bit of acidity in fact. Very slightly gamey but good. (JR)
Assembled from parcels in Corbeaux, Perrieres and Fontenay all acquired in recent years, Dugat’s 150-cases worth of 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru offers ripe black fruit, roasted meat, cedar, and resin aromas, displays formidable density yet refined tannins on a palate saturated by cassis, black cherry, purple plum, cherry pit and meat stock, and finishes tenaciously with black fruit, stony mineral and roasted carnal depth. I would look for at least 12-15 years of improvement. Importer: Weygandt-Metzler, Unionville, PA; tel. (610) 486-0800.
