Good deep red with ruby highlights. Aromas of black fruits, licorice, bitter chocolate and mocha. Juicy, spicy and tightly wound; sappy rather than fleshy, coming across as leaner than the winery's 2003 example. Finishes a tad pinched and dry.

These aren’t the most profound, or complex wines in Montalcino, but they always possess a level of balance and sheer harmony that is truly exceptional.
