Dark crimson. Well-melded nose that seems quite developed. Sweet, mild start. Not especially dramatic – just well-behaved and a bit low key. (JR)
Including a big chunk of Cabernet Franc (25%), the Merlot-dominated 2016 Château La Commanderie is a pretty, yet mid-weight effort that has attractive notes of ripe berry fruits, leafy herbs, underbrush, and spring flowers. It needs more richness and depth, yet it’s nicely balanced, with integrated acidity and a good finish.
Blueberry aromas with black-cherry and blackberry undertones, as well as some graphite. Full body, firm and chewy tannins and very attractive, dark-fruit undertones with wet earth and moss. Solid, classic style to this. Try in 2023.
