The 2015 Grenache Shake Ridge Ranch has real depth and staying power. As is the case with many of these wines, the intense heat of the vintage is impossible to fully escape. Even so, there is good depth and plenty of tannic underpinning.

Very pale ruby-purple colored, the 2015 Grenache Shake Ridge Ranch has subtle red currants, Bing cherries and potpourri notes with wafts of forest floor and white pepper. Medium-bodied with a firm, chewy texture and very faint fruit, it is a bit sinewy even for this style and finishes a tad hard and bitter.
Reminding me of a classy Pinot Noir, the 2015 Grenache Shake Ridge Ranch offers impressive notes of sweet cherries, blood orange and spice, with a seamless, elegant, silky texture. Made from 100% Grenache, with 50% whole cluster and aged 11 months in French oak, it's one of the most balanced, seamless wines I've tasted from Angela. Focusing exclusively on Grenache, winemaker Angela Osborne continues to pull from some of the oldest vines and vineyards in California. She makes a silky, elegant style of Grenache that’s often reminiscent of a Pinot Noir.
