The wine's balance and harmony are beyond reproach, but I found myself looking for and wanting more To Kalon character. After all, isn't that the point of vineyard designate Cabernets?

Black cherries, candied violets, damp earth and hints of incense all flow from this gorgeous, sexy, opulent beauty that has fine tannin, the gorgeous complexity of the vintage, fine tannin and a great, great finish. This blockbuster can be enjoyed anytime over the coming two decades. Under the helm of Tony Biagi and Jesse Fox, Amici is turning out a number of sensational values that more than merit attention.
Composed of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Cabernet Franc, aged for 22 months in 100% new French oak, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon To Kalon gives a very deep garnet-purple color and wonderfully showy, flamboyant nose of crème de cassis, blackberry tart and black forest cake with underlying suggestions of Indian spices and incense. The densely packed, medium to full-bodied palate fills the mouth with black fruit preserves and exotic spices, supported by firm, grainy tannins and great freshness, finishing long. 201 cases were made.
