The 2013 Riva di Levante, which comes from an east-facing vineyard planted in deep red, loamy aiken soils, displays plenty of minerality, full body, an opaque purple color, sweet blackberry and cassis fruit as well as notes of licorice, forest floor and earth. Its tannins are supple but noticeable, and the wine is capable of at least two decades or more of aging potential.

The 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Riva di Levante is arguably the most complete of these wines from Cimarossa, as it brings together both the opulence and structure of the year. The flavors are intense and boldly sketched, while there is more than enough pliancy to balance the tannins that lurk beneath. The Riva di Levante is a classic Cimarossa Cabernet Sauvignon built on power, structure and minerality.
Cimarossa's 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Riva di Levante is striking. Large swaths of tannin provide the backdrop for layers of super-expressive blue and purplish-hued fruit. As is often the case, the Riva di Levante is the most nervous, tense wine in the range, but it is the wine's persistence that truly stands out. Hints of graphite and crushed rocks linger on the tightly wound finish with dark red and purplish overtones.
