Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2014 tasting, Rion's 2014 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Fuées offers enthralling, very pure red cherry and strawberry scents on the nose—great transparency here, an intoxicating bouquet. The palate is medium-bodied with gorgeous mineral-rich red fruit, perfectly tuned acidity, immense tension from start to finish and a salinité on the finish that will have you reaching for another glass. Stunning. Tasted September 2017.

Moderately saturated bright red. Pure but withdrawn nose hints at cranberry, mint and spices. Savory, spicy, soil-driven wine with more inner-mouth herbal lift and energy than the Charmes. In a drier, more penetrating style, with the herbal element contributing to the impression of definition. Finishes with good tannic support and subtle persistence. (ST)
A perfumed, cool and ultra-elegant array of spicy purple fruit displays top notes of spice and dried flowers. There is excellent intensity to the full-on mineral-driven medium-bodied flavors that manage to be refined yet austere at the same time on the saline-inflected finish. This is a wonderfully impressive effort that is textbook Fuées.
