Lurid red. Expansive aromas of ripe red berries, Asian spices, sandalwood, cola and white pepper, along with a hint of smokiness in the background. Supple and broad on entry, offering raspberry and cherry cola and spicecake flavors that turn sweeter as the wine opens up. Smoothly plays lush fruit off energetic spiciness and finishes long and nervy; gentle tannins make a late appearance.

The 2014 Whole Cluster Cuvee Pinot Noir was picked between 14-19 September, the whole cluster element constituting 57% of the blend, raised in 25% new French oak for 13 months. That whole cluster is evident on the nose: earthy and (predictably) stemmy, fresh with floral notes developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, fresh acidity and fine tannin. This displays more red fruit than black, but it feels harmonious and I particularly like the finish that shows impressive finesse, and the whole cluster fruit is better assimilated than on the nose. This is one of the best wines that I have tasted from Archery Summit.
