Punteggio 89/100 · Robert Parker, Aug 2010

The best of the group is the 2007 Chardonnay Solomon Hills. Nice buttery popcorn notes with some fresh white peaches and currants are followed by a medium-bodied, elegant wine with crisp acidity and excellent ripeness. Drink it over the next several years. Adam Tolmach continues to dial back the intensity of his wines for reasons that escape me. The three Chardonnays I tasted were all certainly very good, but it seems to me that ten years ago they would have been even better. Tel. (805) 649-1674

Bright gold. Musky, deeply concentrated pear and dried citrus aromas are complicated by notes of truffle and iodine; smells like an old-school white Burgundy. Succulent orchard fruit flavors are enlivened by tangy mineral and lemon qualities and given depth by a toasty, leesy element. This complex chardonnay has the power to handle full-flavored, buttery dishes with ease.

Vivid gold. Lush and leesy on the nose, with notes of hazelnut, poached pear, buttery brioche and smoky minerals. Fresh, energetic citrus and orchard fruit flavors are complicated by a sexy Christmas spice quality. Clings impressively on the finish, with the leesy note repeating. Lots going on here.
